Background

Ncumisa Mkunqwana is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and Registered Auditor with over 18 years’ experience across the private and public sector. She is the CEO of CHAPU CA Inc., where she leads strategic direction, business development, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement in alignment with international auditing standards.
Originally from Idutywa, Eastern Cape, she holds a BCom, Honours (CTA), and a Master’s in Taxation from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She also completed the International Women’s Forum South Africa Executive Development Programme with Duke Corporate Education.
Her career began at Deloitte, where she qualified as a CA(SA) and was promoted to Audit Manager. She later gained corporate experience at General Motors South Africa before transitioning to the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA), where she advanced to Business Unit Executive for Quality Management, leading the implementation of International Standards on Quality Management (ISQM).
A member of prestigious professional bodies such as South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA), African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA) and Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA). Ncumisa has shaped industry standards, served on the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditor’s (IRBA) Inspection Committee, and is a subcommittee member of the AWCA entrepreneurship forum. She is also a non-executive director at Advancing Children for Success (ACFS), highlighting her dedication to social impact.
Recognized as a thought leader, she has been featured in the book Beyond the Beans and frequently provides expert insights on the state of the economy and business news on South African media platforms. Ncumisa is passionate about mentorship and advancing women in accounting. She combines technical expertise with strategic foresight to inspire future leaders.
